| Raising the lilly pipe a little creates a big aeration activity. The conical shape of the pipe creates a venturi. The water flowing through the pipe actually sucks the surrounding water. Any debries that may be present flow into the cone and then down into the tank where they are sucked by the filter. Viewed: 3284 times.

The water flows out of the lilly pipe in a special way - pointing down and spreading on the bottom part of the cone. If the cone was under water there would be flow in the opposite direction - the top part of the pipe (which is now empty) would have water moving toward the inside. After that the water would be expelled forward. Viewed: 2951 times.
